Dan Prevost grew up around Raymond, MS where he watched as much of the ag land in the area was enrolled in CRP and planted in pine trees in the late 80s and 90s. Observing this trend and having a passion for anything outdoors led Dan to attend Mississippi State University where he earned a B.S. and M.S. in Forest Management with a focus on Wildlife Management. After Mississippi State, Dan accepted positions with Delta Wildlife and Delta F.A.R.M. in Stoneville, MS. There, he provided consulting services as a Certified Wildlife Biologist and Registered Forester and also worked extensively with environmental and sustainability issues in agriculture for nearly 12 years.

Over time Dan’s interest in row crop agriculture grew, particularly as he worked with farmers improving soil health and transitioning to regenerative agricultural systems. As a trained biologist, and with biology being perhaps the least understood aspect of agriculture, Dan’s professional interests were drawn towards working in this arena. Dan joined the Southern Ag Team in March 2019 as Director of Research and Sustainability where he works across the client base conducting on-farm research and providing knowledge and support for any topic in the environmental and natural resource realm. Dan understands that farm profitability is the first and most important aspect of agricultural sustainability, and this serves as a guide for his professional work.

Dan also farms cotton, corn, and cattle part-time in Hinds County and is a MS Certified Commercial Applicator in Aquatics. Dan along with his wife Jessica and two children live near Raymond, MS. When not working Dan enjoys traveling with his family and spending time on the MS River and its tributaries.
