Jason Fratesi grew up working on his family’s farm in Leland, MS. He started chopping, spraying weeds, and driving equipment at age 10. In 1995, Jason graduated from MDCC with an associate degree in Horticulture and went on to attend Delta State. After one and a half years at Delta State, Jason was offered a job as a warehouse manager at Terra Chemical in Indianola, MS. While working there, Jason built a few of his own fertilizer and chemical accounts. In 1998 he accepted a position at Farmer’s Co-op as a field rep. He then went to work at Tri-State Chemical (now CPS) in Leland, MS.
While at CPS Jason won several top sales awards and grew his territory from $2,000,000 in gross sales to $7,500,000. Jason eventually decided to leave his ever-growing territory and sales job and continue doing what he loved: scouting crops and being around other ag lovers. In 2008 he joined Southern Ag Consulting while the firm was still in its beginning stages.
Jason enjoys being part of the team at Southern Ag. By being involved in every aspect of farming, he thoroughly understands the industry. He fully considers the economics of all decisions he makes on inputs, irrigation, financing, equipment purchases, harvesting, storage, marketing, and insect/disease/fertilizer applications.
Jason is the proud husband to Jaime Fratesi and father to twins, Eli and Ava, and their younger brother, Jase. In addition to his job at Southern Ag he farms 875 acres of corn, wheat, and soybeans. Jason is a founding partner in Leland Tire and Parts Center and also helped found Downriver Entertainment (which owns and operates the Mighty Mississippi Music Festival). Jason enjoys playing music in his spare time and has played for 20 years. He is the lead singer and acoustic guitarist for JF & the Dirt Road Jam Band, which released their first studio album in 2011 and are currently working on a second album. Their music can be found on any music website.
